The Farmington Public Schools music department is committed to helping all students master musical literacy in order to communicate with others through performing and responding, and ultimately develop their own creative capacity. Our students learn to think critically and set goals towards the improvement of their musicianship. Musically literate students understand works from a variety of cultures and historical periods while appreciating diverse musical forms of enduring quality and significance. The Farmington Public Schools music program has been recognized for its excellence by the Connecticut Arts Administrators Association and the national organization Best Communities for Music Education.
Thursday December 11th
Come join us for a wonderful evening of music. 6:00pm will start our reception, and at 6:30pm enjoy music from our Madrigal Singers before the 7:00pm main event.
We are excited to bring back our poinsettia fundraiser. We are selling Large and small poinsettia to raise money for exciting trips and events for our students. Please speak to any FHS music student or music teacher about the sales!
Your passion for music education directly benefits our students' creativity, discipline, and community. Channel that support into action by joining the Friends of Music (FOM) at our meeting on Wednesday, January 21st, at 7:00 PM in the High School Orchestra Room (#1539). The FOM is the best way to directly assist our music program, helping plan field trips, coordinate fundraising, and manage essential responsibilities. Your time and voice are invaluable as we ensure high-quality music experiences for all students. If you're ready for a leadership role, please scan the QR code to sign up.
Farmington Public Schools has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for their outstanding support and commitment to music education. Now in its 26th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement for providing music access and education to all students.
Two awards are given each year: Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) for school districts and the SupportMusic Merit Award (SMMA) for individual school sites. Both reach K-12 schools and districts throughout the U.S. and offer opportunities to increase awareness and support for music programs. Over 1,000 districts and individual school sites (public, private, charter, parochial) were recognized for having the highest commitment to producing exceptional music programs.
