This year, Natalie Simpson, our Equity and Inclusion Coordinator, will be leading the Council in exploring and advancing our equity and inclusion work.
Each Council meeting this year will focus on key areas of our School Development Plans, including:
Culture & Climate – Belonging, mattering, trust, relationships, inclusive and restorative practices
Academic Achievement – Engagement, empowerment, productive struggle, motivation, and access to rigorous learning
Teaching & Learning – Pedagogy, instructional strategies, student-centered practices, powerful task design
Meetings will include:
Developing Awareness / New Learning – exploring new concepts and building understanding
Discussion of Current Priorities and Practices – reviewing what’s currently in place and assessing impact
Council Breakouts – small-group discussions on current priorities
Idea Generation – brainstorming and sharing strategies to support school improvement
Reflection and Feedback – considering insights and sharing perspectives
Closure and Announcements – summarizing key takeaways and next steps
Through these sessions, the Council will engage in meaningful dialogue, reflect on current practices, generate new ideas, and identify strategies to strengthen our schools.
