Communication

Remind - Simple, easy to use messaging system. Can be used as a one-way communication system but does allow individual messages. You can schedule messages to send later in the day or week. A great feature is that it can easily link to Google Classroom and Quizlet. Supported by an app, website, and text messages.

Group Me - Great for use with student organizations. It's basically one large group message. Supported by an app, website, and text messages.

Classtag - Messaging system that's similar to Remind but has a calendar and newsletter function. One unique feature is that you can earn Classtag coins with every message sent to spend on school supplies. Allows you to easily see who's connected and who isn't. Supported by an app, website, and text messages.

Bloomz - Messaging system that's similar to Remind and Classtag that helps with managing calendars, sign-up sheets & conferences. Supported by an app, website, and text messages.

Review & Assessment

Quizizz - Free self-paced quizzes; make your own or search for premade quizzes. Can be integrated with Google Classroom and assigned for homework. One cool feature is that it incorporates memes to keep students engaged. With this game, students guide themselves to finish the quiz.

Kahoot! - Kahoot!, a free student-response tool for all platforms, allows teachers to run game-like multiple-choice answer quizzes. Teachers can either create their own quizzes or find, use, and/or remix public quizzes. Three different modes to chose from to play in class or assign from homework. Very energetic and fast-paced. Kahoot! is more teacher-driven to get through the review.

Quizlet - Great for student learning and teacher guided review. Has an online database of nearly 300 million study sets created by students and teachers. Data sets include both text-based and visual study materials. Students can remix existing sets or create their own. For each study set, Quizlet offers up to nine study activities, including matching and fill-in-the-blank games and timed quizzes. For teachers, you can create a study set to play Quizlet Live, which is a team based quiz competition.

Google Forms - Great assessment and questioning tool. Can be used for surveys, worksheets, quizzes, tests. You can set it up as a quiz and it will grade it for you. Forms are customizable with different backgrounds and fonts. A new feature for Google Forms this year is "locked mode" which blocks students from opening other tabs while working in the Form.

Quickgrade - Simple web-based grade calculator for those of us who are math-challenged.

Zipgrade - Turns your phone into a Scantron machine and gives you instant feedback! Uses an app that is integrated with a web platform so you can print specialized answer sheets and create classrooms. Teachers get 100 free scans a month but you can purchase a yearly subscription for $6.99 for unlimited scans. Website gives you class reports and item analysis for each question.

Plickers - A rapid-response classroom-polling app that lets teachers use one mobile device to scan paper cards for student responses. Great for quick feedback to check student understanding.

Polls Everywhere - Ask a question and get live responses! Can be integrated into PowerPoint and Google Slide Presentations. Great for a quick look at student understanding or can be used to gauge student opinions.

Online Learning

Khan Academy - Free online courses on a variety of subjects. Mainly geared towards math related subjects but has branched out to history, art, and test prep. Integrated with Google Classroom and includes assessment questions.

EverFi - Online learning courses over a variety of topics including personal finance, STEM education, digital citizenship, prescription/alcohol drug safety, etc. The courses have interactive video modules and assessment quizzes.

Study.com - Cost money but has over 20,000 videos and quizzes over many topics ranging from literature to psychology to economics.

Ted for Ed - An extensive collection of videos on a variety of topics. Website gives you access to the videos, assessment and discussion questions, and additional resources.

Curriculum Pathways - Over 1700 interactive lesson plans with assessments included. Also has flashcards and supplemental games. Also has a primary source database.

Timetoast - Quickly create interactive timelines.

Insert Learning - Turn any website into a lesson plan! Teachers can insert questions, discussions, and insight directly into any website. When students go to that website, they can respond to those questions and discussions, see that insight, and take their own notes. Can be integrated with Google Classroom.

Book Creator - Make and share interactive books. Complete compatibility with Chrome & Google Apps.

Sway - Presentation tool created by Microsoft...similar to PowerPoint but more interactive with cool scrolling features.

Padlet - an online bulletin board for all students to access and share input and content with the class and has many templates to choose from. Web and App supported

Venngage - Web-based tool to create infographs and posters.

Nearpod - Multimedia presentation tool that allows teachers to insert quick quizzes to gauge student learning on the spot. Also has a lesson plan database to search previous made lessons.

Canva - web-based graphic design tool to create posters, infographs, social media posts, flyers, etc.

Slides Carnival - Website that has dozens of new Powerpoint and Google Slide Themes.

ReadWriteThink - An online resource that contains lessons, interactive activities, printables, and an app to help students improve their reading and writing skills. Tons of teacher resources.

Newsela - assign students a current events article to read and answer vocab or content questions. Links to Google Classroom for easy management.

Prezi - Website and app that allows you to create dynamic presentations with a zooming effect. Upload Powerpoints to convert into Prezis

Discus - SC Research database for all subjects and grade levels.

FlipGrid - Record and share short videos on a class "grid" that resembles a social media site. Allows students to reply to each others videos

Screencastify - Chrome extension that allows you to record your screen and add your own commentary.

EdPuzzle - Make any video a lesson plan by adding commentary, discussion questions, etc
