Goals for the course
In this class, we will be learning the basics of agriculture, careers in agriculture, crop production, agriculture technology, and soil science.
Materials Required
For this course, students will need to have a binder. The binder needs to have a section for warmups, notes, vocabulary, activities, and labs. Each section needs to be separated by tabs. Students will also need notecards, pens, pencils, and notebook paper. I do not use the Chromebooks often, so you will need a substantial amount of paper. We will be playing in the dirt in this class, so make sure to bring a work shirt and garden gloves (if preferred).
Graded Assignments
Homework:
In this class, we will have some homework that you will have to do at home. Some items that are classwork may become homework if they are not finished in the allotted class time.
Notebook Checks:
We will have one or more notebook checks a month. I will be checking for organization, warmups, vocabulary, and notes.
Labs/Activities:
In this class, we will engage in many hands-on activities. We will also be going outside and working in the dirt. Please make sure to wear suitable clothing or have a change of clothes if you prefer.
****RENAISSANCE CARD POLICY****

Policies and Procedures
Chromebook Policy:
Chromebooks should be charged and ready to use. However, many days will not require us to use our computers. Students will be asked to put their computers away during activities that do not require them. My class is not a free period. It is not the time for you to use your Chromebooks to complete other homework or study for other subjects. When I ask you to put your computers away, I expect you to do so. Failure to comply will result in a write-up.
Phone Policy:
Please do not use your phone in class. Phones will be put in the pouches before the bell rings. If I see you using your phone, you will be written up. The same goes for smart watches. Please do not let your smart watch become a distraction. During tests, I would suggest removing the watch and putting it in a safe place!
Leaving Class:
I understand that you will need to use the restroom from time to time, but please do not make it a habit or daily ritual.
If another teacher needs to speak with you during class time, I need to be informed by the teacher by phone call or email.
If you need to see the nurse, try to do it in between classes. I do not want you to sit in discomfort, but I also do not want people roaming the halls looking for a Band-Aid or cough drop.
Do not ask to see Mrs. Hammett/ /Mrs. Herrington/Nurse Furness, unless you absolutely have to. If it can wait, WAIT!
Makeup Work:
The policy has changed this year. You get 1 day for every day that you miss. Late work without an excuse results in a zero. Weekends do not count.
LET’S HAVE A GREAT YEAR!
