🆘 If life or property is immediately threatened, call 911
As a leader, your primary role in a crisis is to remain calm and gather information. Your team and guests will be looking to you for leadership, so keep these three basics steps in mind:
Step 1: Stay Calm
Step 2: Get the Facts
What happened?
When did it happen?
Where did it happen?
Who was involved?
What did they see?
Step 3: Communicate
For power or water outages, or facilities or people emergencies that disrupt service, call your Area Director
If store technology hinders your ability to serve guests, call the Director of IT at 773-915-3019
If life or property is immediately threatened, call 911
We must have running hot water in order to serve guests as required by the health code. Operating without hot water is illegal and could result in fines and store closure.
If your store does not have water or the hot water is not working, immediately call for service and contact your Area Manager for instructions.
If there is a water leak or standing water in your store:
If the safety of your team or the facility is threatened, call 911

Fighting a Fire
According to the National Fire Protection Association, do not fight a fire if:
There is thick smoke
The fire is so hot you cannot get close to it
The flames are more than three feet high or wide
It could spread to dangerous materials or chemicals
If the fire is electrical or from an unknown source, notify the fire department even if you think the fire is out. A fire that is not completely out could smolder and then restart
Smother grease fires by covering them
Do not use water to extinguish grease or electrical fires
Do not allow fire or smoke to get between you and a safe exit
If you are caught in an area of smoke, crawl on the floor to a safe exit. The best air to breathe is near the floor
Evacuate the store if the fire is life threatening, or if panic or serious injury may result
When in doubt, evacuate and call 911
Fire Extinguisher Use
If the fire is small, you may be able to extinguish it. If there is any doubt that the below actions will be safe, call 911 and evacuate
Remember P.A.S.S:
Pull the pin on the extinguisher
Aim the extinguisher at the base of the fire
Squeeze the handle
Sweep from side to side at the base of the fire until it goes out. Shut off the extinguisher.
If there is smoldering, smoke, or a burning smell coming from in or around an electrical outlet—notify your Area Director immediately. If conditions get worse, call 911.
If you smell gas (a gas leak smells like rotten eggs):

2. Â Â Â From a safe location
a.   Call 911
b.   Contact your Area Manager
3.   Do not enter the store until the utility company or Area Manager says it is safe to do so

2. Â Â Â Follow local emergency communications (Police or Fire Departments, Emergency Broadcasts, TV, Radio, Mobile Alerts, etc.)
3.   Your Area Manager will contact you if there are any Protein Bar & Kitchen-specific announcements or procedures, such as store closures

2. Â Â Contact your Area Manager immediately
3. Â Â Keep cold foods as cold as possible. Keep all cooler doors closed. Move cold food to the walk-in cooler if possible.

b.   When the dining room is empty, lock the front door.
c. Â Â Â If any guests arrive to pick up an order after the door is locked, allow them in to retrieve their order. Give them the order free of charge if the power is still out. Remember to lock the door when they leave.
d.   Keep your staff in case the power returns.
