Science & Reading
At Foundations Academy of Clarksville, we believe that science is all about discovery, and we nurture this curiosity through interactive read-alouds and hands-on learning experiences. Guided by our certified teachers, we create an environment where questioning is encouraged, and young minds explore the world around them.
Through engaging stories and science-themed books, our preschool students ages 3-5 dive into fascinating topics, from animals to weather, learning in a way that sparks their imagination. These interactive read-aloud sessions are not just about listening—they're opportunities for kids to ask questions, make predictions, and share their observations. The fun doesn't stop there! With hands-on activities, our preschoolers get to experiment, build, and explore, making connections between what they read and the real world.
We know that play-based learning is key to helping children understand complex science concepts in a way that feels natural and enjoyable. Whether it's growing plants in the classroom or experimenting with different materials, our students learn by doing, fostering a life-long love for learning. Through this approach, they not only develop a solid foundation in science but also a sense of wonder and excitement about the world around them.
At Foundations Academy of Clarksville, science isn't just a subject—it's a fun adventure that encourages exploration, inquiry, and learning that lasts a lifetime!
This week, our learning theme is all about animal life cycles. Our students are discovering the phases of a butterfly life cycle with hands-on activities like a snack craft, painting The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and by interacting with real caterpillars from Insect Lore! We are so excited to have our very own butterfly farm!
