One student comes from a family of farmers. They were so generous to share their knowledge about farming and even let us experience their farm animals up close!
Smashing things. Best field trip ever. One of our student's dad uses construction equipment at his job. We got to see this excavator in action!
In-House Field Trips: Expanding Horizons from the Classroom
At Foundations Academy of Clarksville, we believe that meaningful learning experiences don’t always require a bus ride or a permission slip. As a preschool rooted in a Christian, faith-based foundation, we are passionate about creating opportunities for children to explore the world around them in ways that are safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate—right here on our campus.
One of the ways we bring learning to life is through our in-house field trips. These special visits allow our students to connect with real community helpers and professionals, turning everyday lessons into unforgettable, hands-on experiences. Through these visits, children are not only introduced to important roles within the Clarksville community, but they also build confidence, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of the world.
Over the years, we’ve welcomed a wide variety of guests into our classrooms. Representatives from the Montgomery County Fire Department and local sheriff and police departments have visited to teach students about safety, teamwork, and helping others. A chick specialist from Rural King has given children a close-up look at animal care and life cycles, while a dog trainer from Waggles Dog Sitting has demonstrated responsibility and communication with pets. We’ve also hosted a nurse who shared important health knowledge, as well as a representative from Montgomery County Animal Control who helped students learn about kindness and proper care for animals.
These immersive experiences are carefully designed to support early-childhood education through play-based learning. While children are having fun interacting with visitors, they are also strengthening critical academic and developmental skills such as language development, reading readiness, letters, and counting. Our certified teachers and qualified educators thoughtfully integrate each visit into classroom learning, ensuring that every experience contributes to school readiness and helps children feel prepared for kindergarten.
At Foundations Academy, we take pride in offering individualized attention through small class sizes, allowing each child to fully engage and participate. These in-house field trips encourage social skills, teamwork, and communication as students ask questions, share ideas, and interact with both their peers and guests.
We also value the role of family involvement and community engagement in a child’s education. By bringing community members into our school, we create meaningful connections that extend beyond the classroom and help children see themselves as part of a larger community.
Combined with our commitment to outdoor play, nurturing environments, and strong academic foundations, these unique experiences help shape well-rounded learners who are confident, curious, and eager to grow.
At Foundations Academy of Clarksville, learning goes beyond the classroom walls—because sometimes, the best adventures happen right where you are.

A dog boarder and trainer shared all about Billie's training as a service dog. The kids especially loved her Halloween costume!
