All dancers trying out for the 9th grade team MUST have a current physical on file with the school. Knowing the status of your current physical is the responsibility of the dancer/family. Students trying out for a high school team must submit their physicals to the main office at Southside High School, ATTN: Madeline Forsgren.
No exceptions will be made for students not following this requirement.
In order to participate in tryouts, each participant and parent/guardian must complete the tryout application.

The goal for the clinic is to prepare you for tryouts. We will go over all the technical skills that you will be asked to perform for our judges and coach. During the clinic, you will be taught a tryout routine, which you will be expected to perform for a panel of judges on the day of tryouts. This routine will show the judges how quickly you can learn and perform our choreography. There will be time for questions that you may have about tryouts or the team in general.
For practices, you will need to wear clothes you can dance in. Please no midriff shirts or sports bras. Your hair must be pulled back in a ponytail and out of your eyes. Your hair must stay up throughout the entire practice. Please leave all jewelry at home or in your purse. Cell phones need to be silenced and put away.
Both the clinic and tryouts are CLOSED to all family and friends. They are NOT allowed to be in the gym during ANY of the practice times or tryouts.
On the day of tryouts you will be given a number and will tryout in small groups. You may be asked to perform the tryout routine more than once, so stay stretched and warm. The panel of judges may ask you to perform different technical skills as well.
Our judges will be looking for dancers with experience, strong technique, good personality, and a good overall presentation.
