We are so very excited to be reading The One and Only Ivan together as a school and community this year for our One School, One Book initiative. It's like a giant book club! Every family will receive a copy of The One and Only Ivan and will be asked to read it together at home (see Reading Calendar). We will kick-off on Monday, March 28th and will end with a celebration (more information to come) on April 22nd.

Reading aloud to your child is the MOST important activity you can do to prepare them to be a successful reader (even if they are already reading). It is also a fun and worthwhile family activity. With your help, Barling Elementary is aiming to build a community of readers.

In class, students may also explore the book through activities and discussion. If there are nights that you as a family find it difficult to come together and read, students can Listen to the Book being read by special guest readers.
