Books on Bikes

Fort Atkinson

Books on Bikes is a summer literacy program for families in the Fort Atkinson community that was launched in June 2018. The district elementary and middle school librarians and other guest riders volunteer their time for bicycle rides on several routes throughout Fort Atkinson. The bikes pull trailers loaded with books to give to students and their families at designated stops along the route.

The Books on Bikes program is designed to provide books for students and their families to read at home during the summer months. The goal is to foster a love of reading and help students maintain the reading skills attained the previous school year. Because it is a district and city-wide program, our goal is to reach a broad range of students and their families.
