The Aftermath by: Zach Briggs

Here we all lay

May we all say

We shall stay

And win the day

All though it was rough

We finished tough

Through the wreck

We all should rest

Laying in the mess

Spooky Halloween Story

By: Vienna Jackson

It was a dark night, and two kids, Gabriel (who was dressed as a famous dinosaur) and Jane (Who was dressed as a wild pokemon) were walking down the street looking for a house that didn't have the lights out. “We should probably go back home now” Said Jane “Nooo I don’t want to” Gabriel said. “C’mon it’s not even halloween!” Jane said. “It’s June Gabriel! Im getting hot in this stupid, giant, terrifying, pokemon mascot thing.” “Fine” Gabriel responded with. Just then they turned around to head back home and a white van went by and stop on the curb. The two kids starred at it as the van’s door slowly swung open and a wild pokemon came out and threw a pokeball at them. THE END.

A Romance Story

By: Hannah French + Calen VanAlstine

Jake woke up at around 6 in the morning. He started getting ready for school, like every other day. He went downstairs and saw his mom making breakfast. “Where’s dad?” Jake asked his mom. “Oh, watching tv like usual.”

~~~~~~~~~~~
Jack woke up to a bang. He shot up out of his bed and ran downstairs. He saw a pan on the floor and his mother looking upset. She had just dropped the frying pan.
“Jeez, mom. You scared me.” Jack said. His little sister (Anna) ran down the steps and saw the pan as well. “Oh. Phew.” She stated, sighing with relief.
Their mom sighed. “I’m so sorry. I’ll get to work on making some toast quick.” “It’s ok, mom.” Jack said. Jack’s mom went back to making breakfast. Jack and Anna sat down at the table. Anna was kicking her feet happily and humming.
“I can’t wait for school today!” She told them. “Why?” Jack asked. “Because, school is fun!” “Yeah…” Jack responded bitterly.
Jack didn’t like school. He got teased often.
~~~~~~~~

Haru was still in bed when his mom came into his room and yelled at him. “Haru, get up!!! I’ve told you three times!” “Ugh.” Haru said lazily as he got up and got ready for school.

Haru finally got downstairs. “Haru, hurry up! You’re going to be late for school. Eat your breakfast while walking to the bus!” “Fine.” Haru grabbed his piece of toast and walked out the door.

~~~~~~
Mitzuki woke up and looked at her alarm clock. Oh no! I’m going to be late! She thought and quickly ran to get ready. She sprinted down the steps (and totally didn’t almost fall…)
She grabbed her bookbag and ran out the door. “Bye!!” She yelled to her mom and dad who were waving out the door.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Jake was walking to the bus stop with Jack when he saw Mitzuki basically dragging Haru to school yelling, “Hurry up! We’re gonna be late!” “Well, there they go again.” Jack joked. “Yup.” Jake laughed. “Come on, Mitzuki, Haru!” Mitzuki looked up and ran with Haru to the two boys. “Hey!” Mitzuki smiled.

The four got on the bus. Jack and Jake sat with each other and Mitzuki and Haru sat across from them.

Jack and Jake were teaming up to tease Mitzuki and Haru. “You two are like an old couple.” Jake said. “Yeah, always nagging each other.” Jack added.

“W-we are NOT a couple!” Mitzuki said. Jake could’ve sworn she muttered “Well, not yet anyways…” He decided it was just his imagination. “Yeah,” Haru said, “And I’m not old.” Jack and Jake were holding their stomachs because they were laughing so hard.

When they got off the bus to get inside, Jake and Jack had to wipe tears off their eyes from laughing. Mitzuki’s face was red like a tomato. Haru was also blushing.

They went to class (it was boring like usual).

After school Haru said, “Hey, let’s go to a diner after school.” “Yeah!”Mitzuki said. Little did Jake and Jack know that day Mitzuki and Haru had started dating and they were going to go on a double date.

Jake and Jack decided to walk to the diner. “Why are they bringing us to such a fancy diner?” Jake asked. “Should we go and get a suit or something?” “Nah, I’m too lazy.” Jack said. Jake laughed nervously.

Jake and Jack walked into the diner. Everyone turned to them because they were wearing school clothes. Oh.. they were supposed to wear suits.. Mitzuki and Haru walked up to them wearing fancy clothes. Mitzuki facepalmed, “I can’t believe you two didn’t wear tuxedos.” “Sorry.” Jake and Jack said simultaneously. They looked at each other and blushed. Mitzuki smiled and led them to the table where Haru was sitting.

“Hey, guys.” Haru said and grinned. Jake and Jack nodded saying “Hey.” “So,” Haru said, “Me and Mitzuki are together.” “What!?” Jake said “That’s amazing!” “I’ve always shipped you two.” Jack said.

They ate dinner and talked for a while.

Jake decided to finally tell his crush that he liked them. Jake looked at Jack and said, “Jack, I have something important to say to you.” “Yeah?” Jack asked. Jake took a deep breath in. You can do this, He told himself. “I like you.” Jake’s face flushed. Jack stared at him and his face turned red. “I-I like you t-too..”

Mitzuki and Haru were turning to each other smiling. “We did it!” Mitzuki whispered. That is what Mitzuki and Haru were planning anyways.

They all lived happily after that.

Yin and Yang

By Hannah French

It was an average day for Christa Ymir (Ya-meer). She was practicing her magic out in the woods. She had to keep her magic secret ever since it was outlawed. She wanted to keep using it though, so she could protect herself.

Wizards were rare now. Statistics say that only around 5% of the world’s population was made up of wizards. Her magic was called “Yin”, the magic of light. She had heard a rumor that there was a boy with the magic of “Yang”, the power of darkness. She wanted to see if this rumor was true, so she could find her match.

Christa was going to find this out by looking at everyone’s hand. That sounds weird, but Christa has a mark on her hand that looks like a white half moon, she figured that the “Yang” would have a black half moon.

After practicing she went home. “Man,” she started, “I’m really tired..” She laid down on her bed on instantly fell asleep.

Christa woke up with a start! “Wha-!?” There was knocking on her front door. She looked at the clock and it said 1:45 am. Who would be here at this time!? She walked over to the door and looked through the window. There was a boy with jet black hair and dark blue eyes standing there. He was wearing all black, hoodie, black jeans, and gloves.

She hesitantly opened the door, “Hello?” she asked. “Hey.” The boy said. He grabbed her hands. “What are you doing!?” She yelled, trying to pull her hands away. The boy took off her gloves. Christa went silent… “So, it’s you.” The boy said. He took off one of his gloves and showed that he too had a half moon, but black. “I’m Jack.” He said. “Christa…” she said quietly. “We need to leave. Right now.” Jack stated sternly. “The magic counsel is after us.”

The magic counsel is similar to the government, though the magic counsel are the people that outlawed magic. They hunt down wizards and force them to stop using magic. They put a collar on them that is impossible to take off which makes it so they can’t use any magic.

Jack and Christa ran away to a hide out. They stayed there for a few weeks. Until one day they got a knock on the door. It was the magic counsel… “Which one of you is the wizard?” They asked. They didn’t know both of them were wizards! “M-” “Me.” Jack interrupted. Jack showed them his hand. The magic counsel took his arms, leading him out of the hut. He turned to her and gave her a look that screamed ‘Don’t say anything. Stay safe.’ Well that’s just too bad. She thought. “I am too!” She took off her gloves and showed them her mark.

Jack stared at her with wide eyes. The magic counsel took her by the arms as well. She gave Jack a slight smile. “Sorry,” she whispered to him, “I’m going to help you out of here. Don’t worry.” “No, you shouldn’t have done this..” Jack said, “You shouldn’t-” “No. I’m coming with you.” Christa interrupted.

They got into the car with the magic counsel police.

It had been around an hour in the car.“Hey,” one of the counsel police started, “Don’t look so tense. We’re not going to hurt you. We’re on your side.” The lady looked back and smiled. Christa looked at Jake, who was just as surprised as her. The car stopped and they saw a huge village that was covered with a blue barrier. “Woah.. What is this place?” Jake asked. “This is a safe haven. This is where many wizards come to live in peace. The blue barrier makes it so only wizards can pass through.”

They got out of the car. Christa ran up to Jack and hugged him. He was tense and surprised at first, but finally he hugged her back. “I told you it would be ok.” she whispered softly. “Yeah.” Jack said.

Christa and Jack lived peacefully in the wizard safe haven. Later, they got married.
