Your "test" scores are essays written in class or during a timed environment.
These scores are adjusted throughout the semester based upon your growth as a student writer.
EX Student receives a 70% on the first timed writing. But, don't worry, if they receive an 85% on the next TW both scores will reflect 85%.
Student grades will not be retroactively penalized for a lower score on an assessment.
Student writing scores will adjust based upon the TYPE of writing: Rhetorical, Argumentative, or Synthesis.
Students must score 85% or above to adjust a previously lower score.
AI: All student work will be original. Using someone else’s work and claiming it as your own, even if unintentional, is considered academic dishonesty.
Using AI without teacher approval is also considered plagiarism. Therefore, essays and writings suspected of AI use will be checked for AI usage and infiltration. All school policies will be followed in regards to AI usage and academic dishonesty.
Students suspected of plagiarism or using AI without approval will conference with the teacher before the assignment will be recorded for a grade.
If a student violates these guidelines, the English department will follow this process:
1st Offense: Student conference and parent/guardian warning notification. The student will be allowed to redo the assignment without penalty. The student will only receive ONE warning about unauthorized AI usage.
Any future offense: Student will receive an office referral and receive a zero on the assignment. Consistent unauthorized usage of AI may require parent/guardian conference with student, teacher, and administration.
