This introductory course develops student understanding and skills in such areas as business law, economics, financial analysis, human resources management, information management, marketing, operations, and strategic management. Through various projects, students acquire an understanding and appreciation of the business world. Throughout the course, students are presented problem-solving situations for which they must apply academic and critical-thinking skills.
Objectives:
Principles of Business is designed for freshmen, but not limited to, who are interested in a career in business. It is first class recommended for the Fort Osage Business Academy and is preparation for further study in careers in business and is a pathway that prepares students for transitions to postsecondary education.
Students are expected to check google classroom and their student email daily for work or instructional materials.
If you are absent, you are still responsible for the work done that day. If you are absent and an assignment is due that day, you will have additional time to complete that work without a reduction in grade. You will get one make up day for each day missed to complete work without it being counted late. If you miss many days, please contact me directly to work on a plan for making up missed assignments.
If you makeup an assignment after the assignment has been put in the gradbook - you will need to fill out a missing assignments sheet and turn into Mrs. Eichhorn
My plan is to have the grade book updated in a timely manner. My goal is to always have it updated on a weekly basis, but please understand there are times with this may not be feasible. I have also set a goal to enter late work grades into the grade book on Fridays.
Email is the best way to contact me. I will check it multiple times throughout the day. I may not be able to reply immediately if I am teaching, but I strive to have messages returned within one business day.
All students in any of my classes has the option to join DECA. DECA is a youth organization for High School students enrolled in Marketing Education classes. DECA is a vital part of the Fort Osage Marketing Program. Students will be highly encouraged to join DECA and to participate in District competition. The organization provides students with an opportunity to participate in programs geared towards Leadership, Development, Vocational Understanding, Social Intelligence and Civic Consciousness.
