The Automotive Technology program offers students a chance to explore the field of automotive maintenance while learning critical skills that can be applied to a wide variety of fields, including manufacturing and engineering. The program continually focuses the training on how to safely and efficiently meet the challenges of diagnosing and repairing today's automobile. Various academic, work ethic and professional development principles are taught and practiced throughout the year as well. All program goals and practices have an emphasis on career and college preparation.
Juniors begin the program in Auto Tech I where they are introduced to the basics skills of automotive maintenance, including oil changes and service inspections, Brake Systems, Engine repair, Steering and Suspension. Introduction of electrical theory, HVAC, Manual Drivetrain and Auto Transmissions
Seniors continue with their studies in Auto Tech II, where they concentrate on Advanced Electrical Theory, Computer systems ,OBD Diagnostics, Engine Performance (Ignition, Fuel, and Emission Systems) and with a focus on diagnosis and repair. Further focus on HVAC, Manual Drivetrain and Auto Transmissions systems.
