Mandated School Health Programs

High School Mandated School Health Screenings and Services:

  • All students in grades 7-12 have access to school nurse services

  • All students in grades 7-12 have their health records maintained by the school nurse

  • All students grades 7-12 have immunization monitoring performed by the school nurse

  • All students in grades 7-12 have height and weight checked annually for BMI screening and growth monitoring

  • Students in grade 11 are required to have a physical examination and their second meningitis vaccine. Physical examinations (but not vaccine administration) are offered by the school physician at parent request.

  • Students in grade 7 are required to have a dental examination and a scoliosis screening. Dental examinations are offered by the school physician at parent request. Scoliosis screenings are performed by the school nurse if proof of scoliosis screening by physician is not submitted prior.

  • Students in grades 7 and 11 have hearing screenings performed by the school nurse

  • Beginning in 2021, guidelines regarding school vision screenings are changing. Tentatively, students in grades 7, 9, and 11 will have near and far vision screenings performed by the school nurse.
