This form will be available January 22-30th. While it is available, we highly recommend taking the courses recommended for you by your teachers. Should you feel you still need to use this Course Waiver Form, please click here. Remember that these are requests and are not guaranteed, and that, if granted, these requests are considered final course selections and cannot be changed after January 30th.
When should you use the waiver?
If you would like to change a course that a teacher has recommended you for (waive up, waive down, or waive out)
If you would like to take a course through FVA in your 7-period day (see directions below for online courses)
If the course you're looking to add is not available in Parent Portal during the elective selection period.
Online courses will be requested through both the FVA Application Portal and the WFHS Course Change Request form. Please complete the steps below to request a virtual class.
Complete the FVA Application.
Complete the WFHS Course Change Request form. You will need to indicate you want to take a course in an "Alternate Setting" by selecting "Virtual". From there, follow the steps as outlined in the form.
Online courses will be FVA unless FVA does not offer the course.
If you want to take a virtual class that is not offered through FVA, you may register with Georgia Virtual - GAVS. If you wish to take a GAVS course, you must also submit the GAVS parent permission form through Parent Portal and apply on their website.
Students taking virtual courses will be required to be off campus for these courses, and their own transportation must be provided. West does not provide supervision for students taking online courses.
Online classes will be placed at the beginning or end of the day whenever possible, and students must provide their own transportation.
January 22nd- 30th is the priority window for all online requests.
Summer Course(s)
If you're completing Health/Personal Fitness over the summer, please complete the course change request form now.
If you're taking a summer course that is a prerequisite for the next course in the sequence, do not register for the next course in the sequence. We will make that change when you submit passing summer transcripts. Completing a course during the summer DOES NOT guarantee a seat in the next course in sequence.
Check this page to see if any courses you are requesting require applications or auditions to have them added to your schedule. If you are requesting a course that requires an audition, please follow the steps for the application/audition to ensure your application is complete. Please reach out to the faculty member listed if you have further questions.
Every student should have the appropriate number of electives to fill their schedule plus TWO alternate electives. Alternates are selected to let the scheduling team know which electives a student wants should they not get their first-choice elective. Please ensure these alternate electives are courses you are interested in and okay to take if you do not get your first choice. Follow these instructions to select electives AND two alternates.
11th-grade students must have at least 6 academic courses to be full-time students. This means they have space in their schedule for ONE IE2 class if IE2 must be at the beginning or end of the day.
The course waiver and IE2 contract MUST be completed for consideration. Once you've completed the course waiver, students and parents are required to fill out this form. Students must provide their own transportation to and from school. Students who are in a period of IE2 cannot stay on campus.
Visit our Dual Enrollment page for the process to register for Dual Enrollment classes for the 2025-2026 school year.
Please complete the WFHS Course Change Request form, indicating which courses you would like to take through dual enrollment.
