The Battle of the Books is a voluntary reading incentive program for students in 3rd-5th grade. Students read books from their respective book lists now through April and come together in teams of 3-4 to demonstrate their abilities, have FUN, and test their knowledge of the books they have read. The BOTB school competitions will occur in early May and the top team in each level will move onto the county competition. Students who join a BOTB team should commit to reading at least ten books from the list. We have SOME of the books in our Media Center, but it will be your responsibility to find these books at school or at your local library. Teams should try to cover all of the books on the list between them. Students can read the books in ANY order. Teams chart their books, make monthly goals, and practice comprehension questions.
All reading is done at home or during free reading time at school.
All team members are expected to read at least 1/2 of the books on the list (10-12 books each).
BOTB meetings take place in the cafeteria from 7:10 to 7:35.
Students should report to the cafeteria with their teammates on the dates below:

You will be able to sit or stand in the back of the room in which they are competing, but obviously, you cannot help your child in any way.
