🧪Participating in the Science Fair is a fantastic way to engage students in the excitement of science, while at the same time learning the discipline of conducting all stages of a science project.

🔬Students who participate in the science fair get the opportunity to practice HOW to think, instead of only focusing on WHAT to think.

At this time we do not have a Forsyth County School Science Fair, but select schools in our district hold school science fairs. Students who place well in school fairs at the Elementary level will then be invited to participate at the State Science Fair hosted by Georgia State College.

2025 - 2026 FCS Elementary School-Based Science Fair
The following schools plan to have a school-based Science Fair this year! This is a wonderful opportunity for students to experience the research process and grow their speaking skills by presenting their work to judges. Each school has their own unique style and format for school-based fairs as far as what time of day and the level of parent involvement on judging day.

Students who place in their FCS elementary school based science fair have the opportunity to progress onto the state level!

These forms are an important requirement for all students moving onto the state fair. If the GA College fillable abstract form is not working on the GA College site, use this link.

Question: This should drive all of your research and tell about what you want to find out! Be sure you clearly describe the purpose of your investigation. Your question should be testable.
Background Research: Spend time gathering information that can explain why the experiment turns out the way it does! Be sure you use a variety of reliable sources and keep a bibliography to track them!
Hypothesis: This is a prediction/educated guess (based on your research) about the answer to your question! The format should be an if/then statement. If ________________________, then ______________________. For example: If I increase the temperature of water in a cup, then more sugar will dissolve.
Before you continue onto the next step, be sure you have received approval from a teacher, administrator and medical professional like your school nurse or counselor.
Procedure: Write out step-by-step directions that you will use to complete your experiment. Someone who did not do your experiment should be able to read these steps and understand what to do. Be sure you complete this experiment at least 3 times (3 trials) to ensure the steps are accurate.
Results: Write all of your results, and display them in tables, charts, and graphs. Be sure you write a summary of your results in complete sentences as well.
Conclusion: Explain your results in this section. Did your results match what your hypothesis was? If the results did not go the way you expected that is okay! This is what being a scientist is all about! Share what you learned by completing this experiment. What would you do the same if you were to do this all over again? What would you do differently?
