The assignment is to make a SolidWorks version of the History of Technology assignment from Q1. In our case, we made a drone that will eventually be able to attach to the bottom of a toy car, making it able to lift off the ground and control.
The goal of this project is to create 3D model of a drone. It will be 3D printed next semester for actual building.
The drone will have a base, 4 wings ( 2 on each side ) with a hexagonal base. The parts must be hollow to make it easier to put in all the wires and batteries to make the drone actually work.
First we are making a hexagonal base in the app, SolidWorks, and extruding it so it becomes 3d. Then, the wings are made, using lines and a tangent curve ( 4 ). The fans will be made using the lines, tangent curve and a circle. Select the hexagonal shape, make 4 circles for the holes ( to attach to wings ) and extrude it, for the base. Select 2 lines, attach them with a tangent curve, make sure the lines are slightly tilted, and make 2 holes at each end for the fan, and attach the base to the holes in the base, for the wings. Select a circle, make 2 lines coming towards the circle, attach them with a tangent curve, then attach the fans to the wings with the use of mate. We made sure to keep most of the parts hollow in order to insert wires and such to make the drone functional.
When the project is tested or presented to the intended audience, how does it work, what goes wrong, and what improvements/ adjustments can you make to the design?
