Auditioning for a feature role is NOT required.
Auditions will be held during school hours. They will be required to sing and read to be considered for a feature role. Their classmates will be observing the script reading process, however, the singing auditions will be done privately one student at a time (to help with nerves and alleviate pressure from peers.)
A student auditioning for ANNIE KIDS is required to be committed to the following:

All students must have a parent fill out an audition form. Once you have filled out and submitted this form your student may attend the audition.

Your Student will come prepared to read ONE of the characters from ONE of the option pages - Their choice is the one they will be scored on.
They will all be assisting with each other's Audition and may get to read other characters as well so be prepared to help with all characters.
HOW DO WE SELECT?
Your student is scored based on the following below. 1 being lowest, 5 being highest.
Spoken Diction : 1 2 3 4 5 (We are looking for : Projection/ character voice (if needed) / articulation/ inflection ( voice emotion))
Stage presence/concentration : 1 2 3 4 5 (We are looking for : energy/excitement/engagement/preparedness/head not buried in paper when speaking/focus/believable)
Singing 1 2 3 4 5 ( We are looking for : correct pitch/rhythm/character voice (if needed)/emotion)
Movement 1 2 3 4 5 ( We are looking for : appropriate gestures that match dialogue/character...ex: “waving” when saying hello.)
CALLBACK
A callback is a second audition where your student might be asked to read more for different scenes/characters. Not all students will be selected to come to callbacks. Typically callbacks are reserved for students who score highly with less than 1 point between them. You will receive notice if your student will need to attend. If a student is not asked to attend callbacks it DOES NOT mean that they will automatically not receive a role in the show. It just means that we have seen what we need from them at this time in audition process.
If your student is requested to attend callbacks, they may be given new sides from the script to read, or asked to sing again. Callbacks will be during the school day with an audition panel.
ALL rehearsals take place AFTER SCHOOL we do NOT work not on this in class.
We rehearse scene by scene so not all characters are called for all rehearsals, and the FINAL rehearsal schedule is typically given in two week increments.
