INITIAL AUDITION
To be considered you must fill out the FORM and bring it signed by SEPTEMBER 2nd
Participation in this production is not mandatory unlike the Spring musical and is through audition only.
Auditions this time will be held in class, and their classmates will be observing the entire process. ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO ASSIST WITH AUDITIONS- *but not required to be in the show*. Auditioning will be a participation grade, to help give them experience but we will not cast anyone in a show if they have no form, conflicts with this production, or are simply not interested in being apart a production at this time!
The audition will consist of:
Reading sides from the materials below. All students will get a minimum of 1 chances to read for a part of their choice from the given sides (this is what they will be scored on). If your student is absent during class auditions they will need to set up a time with me to pull them during the week of auditions.
You can access the audition materials at the bottom of this page.

HOW DO WE SELECT? Your student is scored based on the audition rubric below.
CALLBACK
A callback is a second audition where your student might be asked to read more for different scenes/characters. Not all students will be selected to come to callbacks. Typically callbacks are reserved for students who score highly with less than 1 point between them. You will receive notice if your student will need to attend. If a student is not asked to attend callbacks it DOES NOT mean that they will automatically not receive a role in the show. It just means that we have seen what we need from them at this time in audition process.
If your student is requested to attend callbacks, they may be given new sides from the script to read. Callbacks will be during the school day with an audition panel.
REHEARSAL PICKUP WILL BE BY THE CAFETERIA DOOR ( BACK OF SCHOOL)
Your Student will come prepared to read ONE of the characters from ONE of the option pages. They will all be assisting with each other's Audition and may get to read other characters as well so be prepared to help with all characters.
A student auditioning for STORYVILLE is required to be committed to the following:
The student must be AAFAA 3/4th grade student that attends Blackburn Elementary.
The student must be able to attend rehearsals after school. The student must attend all rehearsals assigned by the director. If a student misses 3 or more rehearsals (not including illness or family emergency) they will be replaced and/or given a nonspeaking ensemble role in show.
The student will be present for the public performances .
All students must have a parent fill out an audition form. Once you have filled out and submitted this form your student may attend the audition.
ALL rehearsals take place AFTER SCHOOL we do NOT work not on this in class.
We rehearse scene by scene so not all characters are called for all rehearsals, and the FINAL rehearsal schedule is typically given in two week increments.
PICKUP IS AT THE BACK OF SCHOOL ( BY CAFETERIA)
