A student must meet the following requirements to receive a high school diploma from the district:
Achieve passing scores on certain end-of-course (EOC) assessments or approved substitute assessments, unless specifically waived as permitted by state law;
Complete the required number of credits established by the state and any additional credits required by the district;
Complete any locally required courses in addition to the courses mandated by the state;
Demonstrate proficiency, as determined by the district, in the specific communication skills required by the State Board of Education (SBOE); and
Complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or a Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) or district approved opt out form.
In addition, the Texas Education Agency requires that all seniors graduate College, Career, Military Ready(CCMR). It is important that our students and families best understand all requirements to be College, Career, Military Ready. All graduating seniors must meet all graduation requirements AND earn their CCMR indicator. Students will reach CCMR status by one (1) of the following methods listed below:
Earn a score of 3 or higher on at least one AP examinations
Meet TSI score via SAT, ACT, TSI-A, or complete College Prep Courses in both English AND math
Complete dual credit courses (9 hours in any subject or 3 hours English OR mathematics)
Earn an associate degree from Dallas College
Complete a program of study in CTE (Career & Technology Education) AND earn an industry-based certification (IBC)
Enlist in one of the armed forces(TEA will require districts to upload required documentation)
How does this impact students moving forward?
Class of 2026 - who have met one of the CCMR criteria listed above, which will be verified by an administrator or counselor, would be considered on track to meeting graduation requirements and would be eligible for up to two early release/late arrival periods.
Students who earn CCMR status during the school year may be eligible for early release/late arrival periods upon review.
