During the first month of school, Anderson seniors signed the wall in the newly-named Senior Lobby.
Anderson’s admin team has been hard at work to rejuvenate the senior lobby. This small nook is located to the right of the main stairwell and just in front of the conference room. There are future plans to expand this space and make it more personal to the graduation class
“It is good to realize how much kids care to leave a mark on the school…it makes me happy,” Kenzie Griffin (12) said.
Currently in the senior lobby, seniors signed one of the walls to show their AHS pride. These seniors saw it as a start to their final school year before they say goodbye to the school and a way to leave their mark on Anderson.
Students are the main priority with the senior lobby and new traditions. The goal of the lobby is to help the seniors by giving them a place to decompress and spend time together.
“I want it to keep on growing. I want kids' input and I want kids to use it,” Mrs. Bamber, assistant principal and head of the project, said.
As students grow they discover what they enjoy and find a love for those events, sports, or activities. Anderson has a wide range of people who have different passions and who want to leave an impact on the school. Their goals are to follow what they love and pursue their passions in their lives while also encouraging others to do the same.
“I would like to leave a passion for [theater and band],” Christian Hartzog (12) said.
Bamber is already putting together a list of ideas for the new space.
“[We want] more comfortable furniture, painting walls…I would love a fake plant there. I want it to be cozy” Bamber said.
There are future plans to make the senior lobby a more comfortable place for students. The goal of the space is to have it be somewhere seniors can relax and take a break from the stress of senior year. Anderson prioritizes their students and their success. Be prepared for new changes to the senior lobby this school year, an for future seniors as the years come.
