The Anderson High School newspaper began as a booklet called The Lantern, most likely in 1927, when Anderson first opened its doors to students. The paper itself was up and running by the early 1930s. When the school mascot became the Redskins in 1936, The Chieftain was born. All issues of The Chieftain newspaper were printed on 11x17 newsprint. In 2021, the school's mascot changed to the Raptors, and the newspaper became A-Town News. The school newspaper website was built in 2023, including a rebranding as The Raptor Report. As the field of news and reporting is moving more and more to the digital age, most Raptor Report editions are now published online.
