Taylor Swift vinyls and The Eras Tour friendship bracelets are scattered in an aesthetic manner.
It's been a long time coming…Taylor Swift is set to release her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on October 3rd.
Swift kicked off her new era on a different note than past years, announcing the release of the album on her fiancé Travis Kelce’s podcast, New Heights.
“I didn’t dislike her announcing it on the podcast. I thought it was really cool and cute, and it's nothing like she has ever done before, but I have liked the way she's announced different albums better,” Tatum Burge (9), an avid swiftie, said.
The album is produced by Max Martin, Shellback, and Swift herself. This trio of producers has worked together on numerous occasions, including on Swift’s past albums Red, 1989, and Reputation.
“I think she isn’t angry like she was for Reputation, but I think she is ready to have a more poppy, upbeat album,” Mr. Bissinger, AHS English teacher and Taylor Swift super fan, said.
Many are predicting that The Life of a Showgirl will revisit a sound that Swift has mastered in a previous era, straying away from the heartbreak ballads - although some fans beg to differ.
“I kind of think it's going to be something new. Like I think it's going to be a flip from what she has done” Evelyn Rile (12), Swift fanatic, said.
The album has twelve tracks, including the title track, “The Life of a Showgirl," featuring Sabrina Carpenter. The first track, “The Fate of Ophelia," is the lead single and will have a music video released on the same day.
“[I am looking forward to] The Fate of Ophelia, because I teach Hamlet, and Ophelia is a main character in that play, and one of the promo images is her almost drowning,” Bissinger said.
Swift is notorious for literary parallels, and fans are eager to see where she takes them in her lyrics for The Life of a Showgirl.
In addition to the enthusiasm circling social media, Swift is taking the excitement to the next level and bringing The Life of a Showgirl to the big screen. AMC Theaters is exclusively hosting The Life of a Showgirl release party, from October 3rd to 5th. The release party will include “The Fate of Ophelia" music video release, lyric videos, and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage.
The Life of a Showgirl can be streamed on Spotify and Apple Music, and fans can get tickets to The Life of a Showgirl release party at any AMC theater.
