Welcome!

We are thrilled to invite ALL Alberta Public Charter Schools —currently 34 strong—to the Charterverse 2026 Conference. This biannual professional learning event is a collaboration of efforts and energies designed to celebrate the educators who champion their students as superheroes. As a matrix of unique charter schools representing choice in education for Alberta, this conference is an opportunity to gather, learn, and strengthen our community. Whether you are a teacher or an administrator, we welcome you to join the more than 500 educators who have already expressed early interest in attending individually or as a cohort, or an entire school.

The Event Details:

• Date: Friday, October 23rd, 2026.

• Time: 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.

• Locations (Dual-Hosted):

  • North Campus: STEM Collegiate (4703 52 Avenue NW, Edmonton).

  • South Campus: Calgary Charter Hub (3636 Research Road NW, Calgary).

The Program Highlights:

• A Focus on Complex Learners: The keynote addresses are focused on the complexity of classrooms today.

• Comprehensive Schedule: The registration program includes Opening & Closing Sessions, as well as two 75-minute Learning/Workshop Sessions (A and B). With our classrooms and programming, we would like a limit of 25 persons per session.

• Hospitality: Attendees will enjoy coffee, continental breakfast items, and a box lunch from SUNTERRA with dietary considerations. A Pre-Conference Social Gathering is being arranged with information coming out by early October (currently we are looking a two Canadian Brewhouse locations near the conference venues, north and south.). Conference swag and confirmed schedules will be made available at the Registration Desk on the morning of the event.  

• Exhibition Opportunities: The Conference will feature attendee and door prizes, a vendor area for businesses and the same area for charter schools to display their unique learning pathways. The vendor list includes:  DigitalFruit, Ever Active, Oxford University Press, Alberta Public Charter Schools Association (APCS), and Scholastic Education.

• Communities of Practice:  An Expression of Interest in developing Communities of Practice amongst Charter Schools in the Province will be available in the Exhibition/Vendor Area.  

The Registration:

• Cost: Registration is $75.00 per attendee.  EACH ATTENDEE DOES NOT PAY - EACH SCHOOL PAYS FOR ALL THEIR ATTENDEES.

• Formal Registration: We have organized our Conference Registration under the APLC site (https://aplc.ca/).  We will send out emails to all schools from @footprintsforlearning.com address with further information early September, 2026.  APLC IS THE REGISTRATION HOST AND THEIR PROGRAMMING DATA IS PARALLEL TO THE INFORMATION ON THIS SITE.

More Important Reminders! 

Here are a few details to keep in mind as you prepare for the Charterverse 2026 Conference:

• Schedules: The current session lists are very close to finalized, but a few possible changes over the next few weeks are possible. A formal program with detailed session descriptions will be sent out in September alongside the registration link. Please note that we have tried to maintain a 20 - 25 attendees per presentation ratio given classroom sizes, and thus, the APLC registration form will limit the participants for each session on a first come first serve basis.  

• Certification Opportunity: If interested, look out for the two-part workshop on "The Brain Story," which offers their certification on this important research.

• Extras to Look Forward To: Be prepared to check out the vendor area, explore the Communities of Practice booths, and stick around for swag and door prizes!  We are also exploring the opportunity for pre-conference social gathering the evening before - Thursday, October 22nd with more details to come.  

• Laptops/Devices:  A number of the sessions will require online access with individual devices.
