Food Insecurity in the United States

Food Surplus or Starvation?

Many people don't know how common hunger is in the United States, and why would they? Our first world country builds itself up on being in a food surplus. We are obsessed with food. Yet, 10.5% of families are food insecure in the United States today. These families do not have what they need to survive and thrive. These families either don't have enough money for or access to healthy food. Some families may not have enough money because they can only get low paying jobs or someone in the family is not able to work, while others may have to choose between paying the rent and eating a meal. The access to food is a right.
