Summer slide is something that you can help us prevent so that your children are ready to return in the fall with the same skills (or more than) they left with in June! Creating a reading schedule of quiet time for even 20 - 30 minutes a day helps everyone stay “tuned up” in their skills, plus it gives a calming routine to often hectic summer days. Attached are some easy and fun ideas.
Dear Pier Families:
On Wednesday, June 5th, we will be having a whole school field day to celebrate the end of the school year. Children will have the opportunity to rotate through 15 stations of fun and competition.
We will need volunteers to help run the stations and make the day a success. If you are not yet an approved volunteer, please fill out the paperwork asap. If you are unsure, you can contact Mrs. Chang in the office. The form can be found in the office and is necessary to help during the activities.
The school lunch menu has changed for that day. Our hot lunch for that day will be a hot dog or Uncrustable with chips, carrots, apples, cinnamon bug bites. Students may still choose to bring a cold lunch.
If you are able to help out in any way, please send back the bottom portion of this slip to your child’s classroom teacher by Tuesday, May 21st. If you can not work the entire time, write your time in the blank. Volunteers will be asked to help run a station such as bubbles, races, or tug of war. Assume that we will use your help during the time you signed up for (and you have been approved) unless you hear back from us. Thank you.
Finally, please stop by the office for your approved volunteer sticker on the day of the event! Thanks for your cooperation to help keep our kids safe!
Final meeting of the year is May 23rd at Fat Joes restaurant. Thank you to all that helped with all the fundraisers this year or attended any of the PTO events!
