Hello fellow FDGC members! It has been a privilege to participate in the development and growth of this club and the Folsom DG scene since the beginning and I'm eager to see it keep building and evolving. I enjoyed working with the 2020 Board immensely and hope you will give me another chance in 2021. My duties as Treasurer will be my primary focus, although moving this club forward collectively will underly my involvement on the Board. I intend to uplift my fellow club members in any way I can and promote this sport to newcomers and the public. Thank you for your vote for me as Treasurer of the club in 2021!
Nominee for 2021 Secretary:
Joy Gillespie, Secretary
I have always been an outdoors person with my life centered around running, cycling, hiking and watersports, so disc golf seemed a natural fit for my love of being outside. I started playing disc golf 14 months ago, and the first thing I noticed was the lack of a female presence on any of the courses I played, along with the fact that nobody I knew actually played disc golf. The first thing I did was buy extra discs and dragged my riding and paddling buddies to Grass Valley and promptly got everyone hooked. My goal as a board member is to get more people involved in the sport, in our club and show people that there isn’t a perfect age, skill level or gender needed to play disc golf, and to be outdoors in nature having fun.
Nominees for 2021 General Board Members (3 positions available):
My name is Alyssa Mesecher and you probably have seen me around for Folsom’s tag rounds or doubles! I was fortunate enough to be able to be apart of Folsom disc golf club as a general board member last year and would absolutely love the opportunity to be apart of this amazing club again. It’s unfortunate, but last year as a club we were un able to perform our best given the circumstances. I would love the opportunity to get out there and show what I can provide for the club moving forward into 2021. One of my goals is to see more women out there playing and feeling comfortable in the sport. So in the year of 2021 I would like to see an increase in women’s weekly and tournament events. I know I have so much to offer for this club and if you give me the chance I will show you! Cheers everyone and hope to see you out on the course soon!
I started playing disc golf in 1997, throwing at light poles on the campus of UC Santa Cruz, before graduating to real courses like De La Veaga and Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. I played casually for a couple years, then forgot about disc golf until moving to El Dorado Hills last year and seeing all the courses we’re so lucky to have in the area. Finding the Folsom Disc Golf Club and all of the friendly and supportive members encouraged me to start playing again, and now I’m hooked!
I would appreciate to opportunity to represent my fellow members on the club board to help grow the club, work with local government to build more courses (both south of 50 and elsewhere) and to help them understand the significant impact Disc Golf can have for a community; socially, recreationally and economically.
I'd like to help grow the sport and the club by providing more options for organized play, including Destination Doubles, Second Sunday Safari, and events geared toward giving beginners a reason to come out.
I've been playing the sport of Disc Golf for over 15 years now, but have only started taking it more seriously within the past 18 months. Over that span I've started competing in tournaments and getting heavily involved in our local clubs here in the Greater Sacramento Region. My aim is to become an integral part of the growing Sacramento area Disc Golf scene. I have enjoyed becoming a more active part of the Folsom Disc Golf Club. If chosen to be a member of the Folsom Disc Golf Club Board, I will do my best to fulfill the required duties and help the club continue to achieve new heights.
My name is Kaine Gish and for the past year I have served as a general board member for the Folsom Disc Golf Club. I am running for re-election as a board member for 2021. This year presented quite a few challenges, but even in the face of many obstacles the board and I have been able to make key changes that improved our course and helped to grow our club. Some of our key accomplishments include installing circle 1 and OB whiskers, starting the Bounty Putt program, and obtaining PDGA sanctioning for our Tag rounds.
For next year, Chis Salcone and I have designed a 4 hole Pitch and Putt course in the field where our practice basket is located. We have already started the planning process with Parks and Rec to install the small course. If I am elected for another term, I look forward to continuing this project and having baskets in the ground early next year.
I have greatly enjoyed my year as a board member and am proud of the projects we have worked on and completed. With your vote, I hope to continue this work into next year and grow our club and sport even more.
Living for the community that disc golf provides along with the joy of the sport.
Been playing for 16+ years. Live in Placerville. Stay at home dad to 3 children under the age of 5. Married to long life best friend who is a Major in the CA Army National Guard.
Hi, my name is Shane Day, I’m 32 years young, recently married and Father to 3 kiddos, 4 dogs and a cat.
I have played disc golf since 2017 and I was immediately obsessed with the sport. I love the simplicity of the objective but also the complexity that comes with achieving that objective.
I have been a league participant at BT Collins since the course was first put in and I have stuck around due to the amazing members.
I would like to become a part of the board to mainly help with social media exposure and help grow the club into one of the most well known clubs in the state.
