The K-6 program offers a range of learning experiences for learners. Morning meeting or advisory experiences create connections and provide a daily routine. There is daily live virtual academic instruction in math and literacy as well as independent practice in these areas. Integrated experiences that explore science, global citizenship, and the unified arts are offered in various formats to provide meaningful learning opportunities offline. Intervention for math and literacy in small groups and 1:1 is available to support learners needing extra practice and time.

What To Expect:
- Families will be expected to complete an orientation and sign a contract with their child’s teacher in order to confirm enrollment.
- Families can expect their children to attend 2 hours of required live meeting time each day. Learning is a social activity. Attendance at live meetings is an important way for learners to get direct instruction as well as process new learning with their teachers and other learners. Non-academic live meetings are an important way for teachers to know their learners so they can personalize the experiences they design. We ask that families create a routine around attending live meetings on a daily basis and communicate with teachers when that cannot happen.
- Families should expect to assist learners with offline or independent learning tasks for two hours daily (depending on the age and level of independence of the child).
- Families should expect to pick up any materials at their home school.
- Families can expect that their child’s teacher will be responsible for multiple grade levels.
- Families can expect to meet with their child’s teacher several times throughout the year to review progress.
- Families should check email regularly and respond to communications in a timely way.

The high school virtual learning option is highly flexible, offering learners a wide variety of options in how they complete high school. Students at the high school level will create a plan for completing their high school proficiencies with the help of their advisor and family input. They can access face to face courses, online courses, design independent projects, or create evidence of learning through work and other outside experiences. Students will work with an academic advisor regularly to manage their learning and ensure they are making progress.

- Families will be expected to complete an orientation and sign a contract with their child’s advisor in order to confirm enrollment.
- Learners will need to successfully complete an additional required mini-course prior to being accepted into the high school VLA program in order to ensure that we provide the necessary information and skills to be successful at this work.
- Families can expect morning advisory to last for .5 hours. We ask that families create a routine around attending advisory meetings on a daily basis and communicate with advisors when that cannot happen.
- Students can expect to have meetings with content advisors on a weekly basis to manage independent projects.
- Families should expect to check in with their students about academic progress, check email, and use powerschool daily or weekly.
- Families can expect to meet with their child’s advisor several times throughout the year to review progress.
- Families should check email regularly and respond to communications in a timely way.
