Top 3 Tips: #1 - Logout, #2 - Reboot, #3 - Run Updates...Share with your Students!!!
#1 - Reboot - Chromebook, or Mac, or PC, or iPhone, or Android, or even that 17 year old vcr/dvd combo. Electronic devices crave rebooting like Robert craves candy corns even a week+ after Halloween (only 355 days from the next season).
Many many many students simply close their chromebooks and never reboot them. I tell students to reboot AT LEAST twice a week.
#2 - Logout every day - Google syncs with Clever and Powerschool and Discovery Ed and STAR and just about everything else on the planet (probably even Tesla). Logging out allows accounts to resync vital info. Do it and your accounts will work in harmony...like every Middle Schooler in Mr. Swainbank's class.
#3 - Run Updates. Typically this happens anytime you reboot a Chromebook, BUT I have seen some particularly big updates that don't always go through automatically. Occassionally you have to:
A. Select the 3 dots in the upper right of Chrome
B. Search "update" & click "Check Now"
C. Wait 10-12 minutes. Sometimes it goes quicker, but expect a few minutes of down time. Go get a coffee, check the Facebook, or run some stairs.
D. Reboot. Typically the update I've seen be stubborn (often causing printer hiccups) has required a reboot after updating.
