GRADING
1. Make the best effort to complete assignments even if it is late.
2. Check Google classroom for assignments & due dates.
3. If you are absent, you will be responsible for catching up on the project or skills being learned and turn it in before the end of the grading period.
4. Unless an assignment specifically requires copying, it will be interpreted in the same manner as plagiarism.
TYPES OF ASSIGNMENTS
1. Homework (10%): 10 minutes a day sketching to a specific prompt.. You will find the drawing prompts in Google Classroom under “Homework/warm-ups”. Students will be given a few minutes at the start of class to work on these as well as to share what they have created so far with each other.
2. Classwork (25%): The majority of our time in art class will be focused on practicing skills and techniques, and learning how to utilize the elements and principles of art in our creations. We will also be learning about artists and their impact on community, culture, and history.
3. Projects (65 %) : We will explore a variety of art materials, apply art elements & principles of design successfully, express personal thoughts & interests, and research how other artists have discovered their artistic style throughout history. Our main media focus will be on drawing, painting, ceramics and 3D sculpture elements.
Please feel free to contact me through email if you have any questions or concerns. This is going to be an epic year. See you soon!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jamie Smith
