Class Procedures & Daily Schedule -
Students are expected to be accountable and responsible for their actions, follow the rules, and show respect and kindness towards others at all times. During checkouts, students are free to search the shelves and other resources available to them; and find a quiet place to dig into a great book. I enjoy using this time to connect with them individually to learn about their reading interests and encourage positive connections to stories. During instruction, students are expected to sit in their assigned seats and provide full attention. They may be required to work in groups to collaborate on assignments pertaining to research. During a 45-minute class, instruction is about 20-25 minutes with the remaining time designated for checkouts, reading and hands-on activities. These times are flexible as needed.

Hours of Operation -
The media center hours are from 7:05 a.m. -2 p.m. daily Monday thru Friday.
Due to the fixed schedule there are no open checkouts during the school day for students.
Students who need to exchange library books prior to their next class visit may come to the media center in the mornings after checking in with their homeroom teachers.
Circulation -
Non-fiction, fiction, and biographies may be checked out for a two-week period.
Students may renew a book for an additional 2 weeks if they have it with them upon request.
Students may not checkout new books if they have overdue books.
Students may place books on hold.
Holds and ILL:
Students may request holds on books that are not available on the shelves during checkouts. Students may only have up to 2 holds on their account at a time. Once a hold becomes available, the student has until their next library visit to borrow it or it will be recirculated.
Inter library loans are available at the request of faculty or staff members only.
Overdue, lost, or damaged books:
Fines are assessed for lost or damaged books. Fines are posted on the students PAY FEES portal for payment. The fine is the replacement cost for the book.
Once a lost book is paid for, the student's account will be cleared. If a lost book is found after fine is paid, the book is theirs to keep or it can be donated back to the media center.
Refunds are not offered if a book is found after fine was paid. The money was already spent to replace the book.
Library books have special binding and processing. We cannot accept store-bought books as replacements for lost/damaged books.
Damaged books will be repaired if possible. If the book has gotten wet, sticky, ripped, or chewed, or otherwise damaged so that repair is not possible, the student is responsible for the replacement cost of the book.
Book Challenges - see district policy.
