FCMS Library Mission Statement
In the Forest Creek Middle School Library we are dedicated to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community that inspires a lifelong love of reading and learning. We support teachers and staff by providing essential resources, collaborative opportunities, and expertise in research and media literacy. Our library serves as a bright and welcoming space where students and educators can explore diverse perspectives, develop critical thinking skills, and engage with a rich variety of literature. Through innovative programming and a commitment to inclusivity, we aim to cultivate a culture of curiosity and creativity that empowers all members of our school community to thrive.
Meet the team!
Hey y'all! I'm a two-time graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. (GO HEELS!) This is my thirteenth year as a school librarian. I live in North Carolina with my husband, our kids Teddy & Leona, our dog Kenneth, and our cat Bitty. I LOVE being your librarian! Introducing great books to great students is my FAVORITE thing!
Some of my all time favorite books are: Everything Sad is Untrue, The Hunger Games series, A Wrinkle in Time, Front Desk, and anything by Ellen Oh or Kate DiCamillo.
Can't wait to see you in the library this year! :)
Hi! My name is Chris Mull. I am so excited to be a part of the Forest Creek family! I have volunteered in my daughter’s schools up through Middle School, and I loved being in the library environment so much, I decided to work in one. I volunteered with Mrs. Longworth for a few years when she was at Orchard Park, and I’m so happy to be working with her again!
I grew up in Nashville, TN, and graduated from the University of Memphis with a degree in Graphic Design. I have been married to my husband, Larry, for almost 20 years, and we have a daughter, Lauren, who is currently a Junior at Fort Mill High School. We have a cat named Casey, who loves to sit in my lap when I’m reading. Our favorite place to read is out on my screened in porch, where we can enjoy the breezes, birds, and crickets (and a Crumbl cookie!) I love Historical Fiction and Dystopian novels, and scary books are my favorite during October.
I look forward to meeting every student as they come through the library to check out books. Go Yotes!

Policies & Procedures
FCMS Media Center Policies and Procedures: Revised 10/23/2024
Checkout
Students will visit the library regularly to check out books with their ELA class on a predetermined schedule.
Students may check out four books at a time. Additional materials for school work are permitted.
Faculty and staff may enjoy unlimited access to library materials.
If a student has one or more overdue books, they may still check out other library books to meet their maximum of four books.
Open checkout is available 7:45am-3:00pm daily.
Students are asked to use a smartpass when traveling to the library outside of a class visit.
Students have access to ebooks and audiobooks through Sora, which can be found in ClassLink.
Overdue, lost, or damaged books:
There is no fine for overdue library books.
Funds to replace lost books must be received by the end of the school year.
Since library books have a special binding and library processing, we cannot accept store-bought books as replacements.
We can only accept payment in the form of a check made out to FCMS or cash.
Damaged books will be repaired if possible. If, however, the book has gotten wet, sticky, ripped, chewed, or is otherwise damaged so that repair is not possible, the student’s family will be asked to pay to replace the book.
Holds and ILL:
Students are allowed to request books in Destiny using their Google logins. Once a requested book comes in it will be checked out to the student and delivered to their homeroom. This is known as our "Book Dash" service.
Inter Library Loans are also possible at the request of a faculty or staff member. Mrs. Longworth will contact other media specialists in the district and receive the book by courier.
Book Challenges
If a member of the faculty, staff, and/or parent community feels that the content of a book is controversial, questionable, or inappropriate, they are welcome to submit a “Request for reevaluating media materials” form from the Fort Mill School District.
A committee at the district level will review the book(s) and discuss. This committee will then make the final decision with the option to send to the state for review.
