Hello Kindergarten Families! Welcome to our Kindergarten class web page! My name is Vell Joshevama-Davis, I am Piqoswungwa (Bear Strap) from the village of Shungopavi.

This is my first year here at First Mesa Elementary School. I taught at a previous school for 22 years and now, I am very excited about my move to this side of the reservation! I am enjoying getting to know our Kindergarten students and seeing them every day! I have a deep passion for teaching our Hopi children as much as I can and incorporating our Hopilavayi as much as I can in the classroom.

Last school year was an experience for all of us and I am very glad to be able to see the students daily. Please know that we are doing our best to keep your children safe, as I am a mother too and I want my children kept safe as well.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my 4 children and going on walks on the nice trails in this community.

I look forward to working with your children, you, and with Mrs. Huma-Pawesiema as we teach them the fundamentals they need, so they will be successful and confident learners in the next grade level.

A warm welcome to all our parents/guardians and our Kindergartner's. First, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Marlena Pawesiema. This year I will be going 6 years here at FMES. I come from the village of Tewa. My clan is Parrot /Katsina. I am a mother of 4.

Secondly, I am excited to get this school year going, as we all join back together. I look forward to all the teaching to your students and assisting Mrs. Davis.

Lastly, I like to expand the love of learning to our incoming kindergartner's as we will strive for success here at FMES. I look forward to learning and building along side by side with your student, as we are all looking forward to building a relationship with you and your child.
