Jason Guzman is a media producer, creative director, educator, and entrepreneur whose work brings together storytelling, strategy, production, and emerging technology. Across more than 15 years in higher education, public sector communications, and client-facing creative work, he has built a practice centered on translating complex ideas into clear, resonant media and building the systems that allow creative work to move with precision from concept to completion.
He serves as Senior Media Producer at Columbia University, where he leads projects from creative development through production, post-production, accessibility, and delivery, while also overseeing an in-house studio that supports a wide range of partners across the university. His work is defined by a balance of creative judgment and operational discipline, with particular attention to clarity, collaboration, and the structures that allow ambitious work to be executed well.
Jason is also the Founding Director of Flywheel Film, an integrated media production and creative agency based in New York City. Through Flywheel, he leads creative direction, business development, production strategy, and project management for work spanning Fortune 500 companies, legacy nonprofits, major media networks, and city and state agencies. His agency work reflects an ongoing commitment to narrative-driven media that is both visually considered and strategically grounded.
In parallel with his professional practice, Jason teaches media production as an adjunct professor at Montclair State University. His teaching focuses on storytelling, editorial process, and professional workflow, and is shaped by a broader background in education and learning design that continues to inform how he approaches audience, structure, and communication.
He is also the founder of Kutr.ai, an app he developed to explore AI-driven approaches to video editing and creative workflow design. The project reflects his interest in how emerging technologies can support more efficient, thoughtful production processes while keeping human editorial judgment at the center.
His work spans directing, producing, interviewing, writing, editing, studio leadership, creative operations, campaign development, and cross-functional collaboration across video, photography, design, and digital media. Taken together, his career reflects a rare combination of craft, systems thinking, and leadership across creative, institutional, and entrepreneurial contexts.
