No. This is an OPTIONAL school-wide activity, open to teachers, staff, and students. If you have an FLVS email address, you can participate. The reward is accomplishing a first draft of a novel (and, maybe some digital badges along the way!)

Can I use GAI (ChatGPT, Co-Pilot, Gemini, etc.) to help me write my novel?

No. You can use GAI to help INSPIRE you, or assist you with a grammar check, but the story itself needs to be your own. You have a voice, and you should share it!

Can I write Fan Fiction?

Yes, as long as you don't plan to publish your work for commercial purposes.

Can I work on a project that I have already started?

Yes, but you won't be able to count a previous word count towards your monthly goal. The goal of this challenge is to add words every day to grow your project into a first draft novel in 30 days.

Where do I submit my finished novel?

You can edit your registration to include the Google Doc link (if you didn't during the initial registration) to share your entire novel. Otherwise, there is no where to submit. This is a personal month-long challenge.

Is this a competition or contest?

No, but there will be challenges along the way and digital badges given in recognition weekly for various achievements.
