Embracing Chinese Culture, Building Global Connections
Our Mission:
(我们的使命)
The National Chinese Honor Society aims to inspire its members to become lifelong learners, deepen their understanding of the Chinese language and culture, and actively contribute as global citizens in the twenty-first century.
Our Achievements
(我们的成就)
Ever since our inception, the NCHS chapter at FLVS has consistently accomplished much with respect to Chinese language and Culture. Each month, our club hosted themed meetings where student members shared presentations on different aspects of Chinese culture, from the Lunar New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival to traditional cuisine, idioms, and holidays. These sessions helped us learn, laugh, and connect across cultures. We held our very first cultural craft session where members created origami pieces while learning about its symbolism and roots. It was a relaxing, hands-on way to appreciate East Asian art and enjoy each other’s company. From just an idea at the beginning of the year to a thriving group of passionate students, we’ve built a safe and welcoming space where everyone can express pride in their heritage, curiosity for culture, and love for learning. However, despite our challenges of being a recent club, we’ve stayed consistent: meeting monthly, staying organized, and empowering student voices through leadership roles, planning, and team collaboration.
What We Strive For:
The National Chinese Honor Society (NCHS promotes and garners further importance for excellence, not only in language fluency, but in cultural appreciation. Our mission is to develop thoughtful global citizens, through expanding members’ knowledge on Chinese language and culture. Each and every member of NCHS has a deep passion for Chinese language and culture; this is what makes our club so special, creating a unique collaborative space and community, striving to heighten the impact of Chinese language and culture. This community is integral to the foundation and growth of NCHS, in that, each member should exemplify achievements in academics as well as in Chinese culture and language. Values such as a upholding character, a deep sense of leadership, and desire of service — with a strong interest and commitment to Chinese language and culture — are essential for club members. Although NCHS is relatively new to FLVS, with your help, we hope to accomplish much and perpetuate a greater appreciation and understanding of Chinese culture and language.
