Greetings HOSA members! Below, you will find a list of some of the frequently asked questions. If you require any further assistance, please contact Dr. Strate or the HOSA officers listed at the bottom of the page.

• How many volunteer hours do I need each semester? 

  • Every HOSA member needs a MINIMUM of 10 hours per semester to remain in the club. 

**Committee members and leaders can earn hours through completion of committee duties. All hours will be confirmed before validation.

• What is ExploraVision? Is it required? 

  • ExploraVision is an online competition hosted by Toshiba, developing critical thinking, creative, and collaborative skills for K-12 students in the U.S and Canada. Teams must pick a technology to improve, complete research and submit following the required format. For additional details and information, please visit the the ExploraVision website at: https://www.exploravision.org/project-format/ 

• Is attendance required? 

  • To remain a member, attendance to meetings is HIGHLY encouraged. For specific achievements,  requirements include: 

    • A certificate of participation (60% Attendance or better)

    • SNHS pin (75% Attendance or better)

  • For  graduating seniors ONLY: A cord and/or stole to wear on graduation day.

    • Cord: At least 60% attendance and participate in at least 1 extra event

    • Stole: At least 80% attendance and participate in at least 1 extra event

    • Cord & Stole: At least 90% attendance and participate in at least 2 extra events

• Are HOSA competitions required? 

  • No, however, if you would like to participate, members have the opportunity to compete in the HOSA Space Coast Region in Orlando.

    • Region assignment: We will be competing in Orlando (The Space Coast Region) ONLY, because this is where the FLVS headquarters is located. We understand this may be a significant inconvenience for some, but this decision comes directly from the Florida HOSA Advisor.

    • Event Details:

      • Location: Pine Ridge High School

      • Date: January 24th, 2026

      • Registration Deadline: November 21st, 2025

      • Online Testing Window: December 9-11, 2025

    • The registration fee is $25. The deadline to pay is Tuesday, November 18th, at 6:30pm.
