Academic Integrity is one of our core values and one of the most important areas of focus as a learning organization. Students with academic integrity make decisions based on ethics and values that will prepare them to be productive and ethical citizens.
This paper explains the tools we use in dealing with integrity, definitions, roles and responsibilities of all parties along with the matrix of integrity interventions. Please download and save this document for future reference. Click here for access to the FLVS Breakdown of Academic Integrity.
All students sign the 'I Agree' page during course registration in which the student agrees to abide by the policies and procedures of FLVS. Included in FLVS policies is the administration of proctored exams. Proctored exams can be requested by FLVS at any time and for any reason in an effort to ensure academic integrity. It is the student’s responsibility to work cooperatively with FLVS faculty to schedule and take the exam. When taking the exam to assess a student’s integrity, the exam must be passed with at least a 59.5%. FLVS may institute a program to regularly administer proctored exams to randomly selected students.
By clicking the “I Agree” button at the Academic Integrity page, students agree to submit 100% of my own work, and I commit to Academic Integrity by registering as a student at FLVS. By clicking the “I agree” button, students also agree to take a proctored exam at any time if requested. Students should understand that they may be required to have a web camera in order to complete this process. In addition, students agree that for any form of proctoring, they will need a picture ID. Students should also understand that should they finish the segment in an extremely accelerated pace, they may be subject to additional accountability measures. Failure to comply with the Academic Integrity commitment or refusing to take a proctored exam will be grounds for removal from the FLVS program. Further, students agree to comply with all of the policies and procedures listed in the FLVS district Student Progression Plan and FLVS Code of Conduct/Student Handbook, which is posted on their VSA Student dashboard and at www.flvs.net.
If you have any questions about proctored exams please contact the Academic Integrity Hotline at 407-513-3341 or 866-943-3050 (toll free).
Each teacher regularly conducts discussion based assessments with his or her students. These conversations occur at specific intervals as well as randomly in a course and are included in the assessment component of each course. The teacher discusses individual student work and extends the conversation to allow the student to demonstrate mastery of the content and to verify the authenticity of the student’s work. Students are required to complete and pass all discussion based assessments themselves, free from any distraction or influence of others.
If you would like to report an academic integrity situation please call the following number or send an email to the address below. Please discuss as much of the following information as you are able: Student Name, Course Name, High School or County, Teacher Name and situation. We appreciate you taking the time to report this situation and assisting FLVS with Academic Integrity.

Another aspect of the FLVS commitment to student learning is the seat time policy for each segment of every course. To ensure adequate time for comprehension and mastery, students must work in the course segment consistently for a minimum 14 days starting from the date of first submission. Twenty-eight days of work is required, at minimum, for a two-segment course. Based on content, some courses have longer seat time policies. Consistent submission of assessments will ensure the student is engaged and learning.
English IV has a 14/28 day seat time requirement. If a student is taking both segments, Segment 1 work days begin from the first submission of an assignment. Segment 2 seat time begins from the first submission of an assignment AFTER the Segment 1 exams have been taken. Work submitted in Segment 2 prior to the completion of Segment 1 does NOT begin the 14 day count for Segment 2. Segment 1 and Segment 2 may NOT be taken concurrently.
This policy provides students the opportunity to receive ongoing feedback and remediation while demonstrating their learning through several required checkpoints. DBAs (Discussion-Based Assessments) are limited to no more than one per day. The Instructional Leadership Team reserves the right to evaluate a student's gradebook to determine when the work habits show consistent progress, thus beginning the count towards the 14 day minimum, and may require a students to take a proctored exam in order to complete the class. All assignments must be completed and graded prior to taking the segment exam. Any open Academic Integrity tickets must also be resolved prior to taking the segment exam.
No exception is made to the 14/28 seat time.
