In the Exceptional Education classrooms, we support the Coosa High School and Floyd County Mission of Fostering Community Success, where every child feels valued, understood, and empowered to reach their fullest potential.
Coming up:
Friday, December 12 - CBI trip to the mall and Dollar Tree with lunch at Chick-Fil-A 9:30-Noon. We'd love for you to join us!
December 22-January 5 - Christmas Break; kids return to school on Tuesday, January 6
Look what we're learning: This week, we will learn about Operation Santa Paws. A man named Justin Rudd started it in 2001 in California. It is an organisation run by volunteers that collects donations of pet toys, pet food, blankets and more and delivers the donations to animal shelters. There are branches all over the United States now that help provide the extra support needed during the holidays to local animal shelters. While there isn't a branch in our town, the Public Animal Welfare Services (P.A.W.S.) shelter would welcome any donations! If you would like to watch a family movie to go along with this theme, I highly recommend A Dog Named Christmas. I have yet to make it through that movie without Kleenex.
We will continue to work on the signs: food, drink, mom, dad, bathroom, me, home, yes, no, sorry, and the casual sign for "I love you." We are still using the signs Mrs Deb, the speech teacher, is working on, which are want, more, tickle, please, and thank you. Please let me know if you would like me to send you the instructions for any or all of the signs we cover in class. We are concentrating on these signs, hoping that repetition and practice will help the students learn them. If you have any signs you would like us to work on, let me or Mrs Deb know.
