August 24th - 28th: Try it! What kind of shapes do you see here? Use shapes to draw different animal faces. Here you can use colored pencils, markers or crayons work as well! Use what you have available, and just have fun exploring. :) When you are finished you can bring them back to school to show off. May 11th - 15th: Saturday May 9th was National Lost Sock Memorial day. On this day, we are to let go of all our single socks that do not have a mate. Instead of throwing them out, lets turn them into art and put on a show - A sock puppet show. Watch the video on PBSlearningmedia.org called Mr.Socko, and use things around the house to create your own puppet. Take a video of yourself putting on a sock puppet show and share it with us all (Mharvil@floydboe.net)
May 4th - 8th: Visit Mr.P's youtube page and have fun with this painted rock project. Here you can use paints or crayons work as well! Use what you have available, and just have fun exploring. :) When you are finished you can bring them back to school when we start back up and place them in the rock garden outside of the art room. April 27th -May 1st: You're home and you're looking for a fun art challenge: Try the Getty Artworks challenge at the link below. Choose a piece of art you like and find things around your house to recreate that work of art with your family. Check the link and what others have done while in quarentine for ideas and instructions on how to approach finding a piece of art. Take a picture, and post it! March 30-April 3rd option 2:The weather is getting nicer and it is great to be outside! Go outside and gather some leaves, pinecones, rocks, sticks and other objects in nature that you can make a face with. Put those items together to make a face, or maybe you can think of something else to make? An animal, a friend? Andy Goldsworthy was an artist who used things he found in nature to make beautiful art. Look at the video of his art for ideas and follow along with the Kid's Art Week video to help you make yours. Look at the painting by Christine Merill of the Chesapeak Bay Retriever and talk about some emotions you see shown in this painting.
