JUMP ROPE SKILLS
Over the past few weeks we have been focusing on our jump rope skills. Jump rope is an excellent exercise that is good for your heart and it works different muscles in your body. If you have a jump rope at home you can practice some of these skills. If you do not have a jump rope, just pretend like you have an imaginary jump rope and work on getting your feet right with each jump. You can also lay something down on the ground and practice jumping over it with both feet. When you jump rope, start with the jump rope behind you. There are 3 steps to follow when you jump rope:
Step 1 - Throw It
Step 2 - See It
Step 3 - Jump It
Remember to start out slow, and then the better you get the faster you can go. Before you start to jump rope, please remember the safety rules to follow when jumping rope. I want you to practice the basic jump first: Throw it, See it, Jump it. Once you have got this down and you feel comfortable with the rope, I want you to try these different challenges with the rope.
Challenge 1: Count how many times you can jump rope in one minute (Have an adult time you if you need them to).
Challenge 2: See how long you can jump rope without stopping (Have an adult time you if you need them to).
Challenge 3: Watch the YouTube video below. This video is going to show you several different tricks that you can do with the jump rope. Remember these tricks are just for fun, so DO NOT get upset if they are too hard to do. Just practice, practice, practice, and before long you will be doing all of the jump rope tricks. Tip to use: Watch the trick, then pause the video to practice! Good Luck and most importantly HAVE FUN!!! Basic Jump Rope Tricks
