COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Just a reminder the community service you submit for hours to NHS must be legitimate community service. The work should provide service or assistance to those in need.
NHS members may not miss school to complete community service.
Please see me should you have questions. Below are some volunteer opportunities for those that are interested. If you know of additional opportunities, you may email the information to me OR you may comment here. Thank you!
Floyd Felines
Floyd Felines is a non-profit organization that rescues cats and kittens throughout Floyd County. They are always in need of volunteers to help with feeding the kitties and cleaning their facilities. You may use the link below to sign up for volunteer times or you may email them at floydfelines@gmail.com
Community Kitchen
The Community Kitchen preps and serves meals to those in need. Lunch is prepped and served Monday-Friday from 9:00am-12:00pm. Also, I think you do need to be 16 years old in order to volunteer. You can use the link below to sign up to work with them during our breaks.
Drive Projects:
Pick an organization that is important to you, and create a drive project to raise money or collect items for that organization. Most local organizations can provide you with a list of items they accept. See me if you have questions or need suggestions as to how you can get started. You can do this with a friend or a group of friends.
Campus Clean Up
Unfortunately, there are those that throw trash in our parking lot and in the grassy areas of our campus. I have gloves and trash bags that I can provide if anyone would be interested in cleaning up our campus. This can be done after school or on a weekend. This is an ongoing need at our school. So, see me if you are interested.
Church
Many activities through churches can be counted as community service. These would be activities that are NOT conducted on Sunday morning, Sunday evening, or Wednesday evening. It is a good idea to check with me regarding the validity of church activities.
School Activities
MOST school activities can be counted for community service. These would be activities you are not required to participate in for some other club, a sport, or class. Email me should you have questions about any activities.

Habitat for Humanity Concessions
Habitat's mission is to build safe, affordable homes for low income families in our area. We are operating the concession stands at the Rome Emperor Baseball games. 15% of all sales will go back to Habitat Coosa Valley to build more affordable homes in our area. We need lots of help for this fundraiser due to the amount of home games. The regular season starts on April 4th and we are still in need of help for every home game. We have to have a minimum of 16 volunteers to operate the concession stands. Below is the link where volunteers can sign up on the calendar. Tasks for the stands include taking orders and running the cash register (cash only), fixing drinks, making popcorn and nachos, handing out orders, etc. Cooks are provided so we are not responsible for that part. We hope some students will be interested in helping out!
