Sally Echols - Head Coach
Coach Echols has been teaching and coaching for 24 years. She is a '98 graduate of Model High School where she played under Coach Andy Akin. She continued her education and playing career at North Georgia College and State University (now University of North Georgia). She played for four years under Coach Buffie Burson. She also has a masters degree in Administration and a specialist degree in Leadership both from Lincoln Memorial University. Coach Echols is entering her 21st year as the head coach for the Lady Devils basketball team. She was the assistant for two years prior to that under Shawn Whittle. Coach Echols is married to Sam Echols and they enjoy spending time on the lake with their two children - Britton (15yrs) and Molly (13yrs).
Robby Dooley - Assistant Coach
Coach Dooley is the Lady Devils assistant coach and teaches physical education at Model Middle School. After coaching with Coach Echols for 13 years, he took the head coaching job at Coosa High School from 2018-2021, but now he's back! Coach Dooley brings both energy and knowledge to the Lady Devil program. He is an invested part of the Blue Devil community along with his wife Kelly. They have two young ladies. Reagan is currently the counselor at Model Elementary School and Riley is a recent graduate from Jacksonville State University.
Rachel (McFry) Griffitt - Community Coach
Coach Rachel is a 2015 graduate of Model High School. She continued her education at the Georgia Institute of Technology where she earned a degree in Materials Science and Engineering. While at Tech, she was on the club basketball team where she and the Yellow Jackets won the Club Basketball Collegiate National Championship and were named Georgia Tech Club of the Year. She now works as a Research and Development Engineer at Mannington in Calhoun, GA. Rachel is in her sixth year of helping the Lady Devils. Rachel is also a newly-wed to Jordan Griffitt! We are excited to have Jordan in the stands this year!
Libby (Upton) Reeves- Assistant Coach
Libby graduated with both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Georgia—Go Dawgs! She is also a proud alumna of Model High School, Class of 2019, and we are thrilled to have her back, this time as a teacher and on the Lady Devil Coaching Staff! Libby played for the Lady Devils from 2015-2019 where she had a career record of 101-19. She helped her team to 3 Region Championships and 2 back-to-back Final Four appearances. Libby is engaged to Rucker Reeves and will soon be married in November. They also have a dog named Dooley.
Abby Henderson - Assistant Coach
Courtni Webb - Community Coach
Coach Webb is a ’99 graduate of Vincennes Lincoln High School, in Vincennes IN, where she participated in volleyball, basketball and track. She then continued her basketball career at Marian College (now Marian University) in Indianapolis, IN. She graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry. After graduation, she went on to work as an Analytical Chemist for various pharmaceutical companies in Indianapolis and Cincinnati, OH before moving to Rome. Coach Webb enjoys spending time with her husband, Daniel, and her daughter Susie (8 years).
Jamie Mathis Skinner - Head Coach
Coach Skinner is a 1999 graduate of Model High School. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelors degree in Communication Science Disorders and obtained her masters in Speech Language Pathology from Georgia State. Coach Skinner played a key role in the success of the Lady Devil basketball program as a player helping to lead them to the Final Four and State Runner-up title. She now invests in the program as the head MMS coach after being assistant under Jody Quarles for four years. Coach Skinner currently teaches at Johnson Elementary school. She and her husband, Jake, have three active kids, Kensley (17), Brody (14), and Brynlee (12).
Coach Duke - Assistant Coach
Coach Duke is a 2018 graduate of Model High School. As a player in the Lady Devil program, Liz helped her team to two Final Four appearances and 3 Region Championships. Her work ethic and leadership were a huge part of her team's success. She has a passion for teaching the game of basketball and building relationships with young ladies. Liz is currently teaching math at Model Middle School.
