From AP Central: “The goal of this course is to provide students with the scientific principles, concepts, and methodologies required to understand the interrelationships of the natural world, to identify and analyze environmental problems both natural and human-made, to evaluate the relative risks associated with these problems, and to examine alternative solutions for resolving or preventing them.”
Environmental Science is the study of relationships and connections on Earth. This course focuses on concepts from the natural sciences (biology, chemistry, geology) and social sciences (economics and sociology) to explain how the earth works and how we as humans impact the earth. The course emphasizes how all living and nonliving things are connected. During your studies you will be required to read, analyze, synthesize, write, and express opinions constructively. As an AP course, this course is designed to be the equivalent of a one-semester introductory college level course in environmental science. You will be assigned outside scholarly readings, participate in lab and field investigations, and be required to write critically about environmental issues (scientific, social and political).
This is a year-long course, culminating with the AP exam at the end of spring semester –May 13, 2025.
