¡Hola!
This is my second year teaching at Pepperell High School, and I am so excited for this school year! I will be teaching just Spanish 1 this year, and I can't wait to share my love of languages and cultures with you.
A little bit about me: I'm originally from the Philippines and moved to the U.S. without knowing how to speak English. Learning a new language was a challenge, but it sparked a passion in me. After mastering English, I decided to take Spanish classes in college, and I completely fall in love with the language. I'm now trilingual in Tagalog, English, and Spanish!
I also studied abroad in Spain & Costa Rica and visited Honduras & Mexico, which deepened my appreciation for Spanish-speaking cultures. I'm excited to share that passion with you this year. ¡Vamos a hacerlo!
This year in Spanish I, we’ll be using the SOMOS curriculum, which helps you learn the language through comprehensible input, meaning you’ll understand Spanish by hearing it, reading it, and seeing it used in stories, songs, and activities. Each unit starts with a few key vocabulary words or phrases that we practice in different ways, and then we build a class story to see how those words work in real situations. Many units include a video or song to make learning more fun, plus a cultural lesson to help you explore Spanish‑speaking communities. You’ll have small assessments along the way and a bigger one after one or a few units, but everything is designed to help you feel confident using Spanish in speaking and writing. As we move forward, you’ll keep seeing vocabulary from past units so your foundation grows stronger over time.
