What Does a School Counselor Do?
My involvement with the students takes place in several ways. One function of a school counselor is to implement classroom guidance lessons for whole-school prevention programs such as body safety, career education, drug and alcohol awareness, and character development.
All students have the opportunity to meet with me as needed. Students are instructed to fill out a self-referral form (link on the next page), and I will schedule a time to meet with them during non-instructional time. Teachers may also refer students that they feel would benefit from individual counseling.
I am also available to meet with parents. I regularly attend Individual Education Plans (IEPS)/504 meetings and parent-teacher conferences. As needed, I can meet with parents individually to discuss specific concerns or to serve as a liaison for families needing community resources.
One of my goals as a school counselor is to help every student "SOAR" to their highest potential.

About Me
Although I have worked at several elementary and middle schools as my family moved, my husband and I always knew we wanted to return to Rome. We have two children that attend Coosa High School. This will be my nineteenth year as a school counselor, and I love being an Coosa Eagle!
