Click this link to access Opt Out Form for Young Adult Books
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Floyd County Schools has implemented a school media program at each school in accordance with State Board of Education rules and regulations applicable to the School District under its Charter and O.C.G.A. 20-2-2065. The school library media center provides voluntary access to information and ideas and serves as a learning laboratory for students as they acquire critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed in today’s society.
These resources include materials that support the intellectual growth, personal development, individual interests, and recreational needs of students. School library materials are selected by the school media specialist and local school media committee. Materials are selected to encompass a variety of topics, interests, and reading/content levels. In our Middle School libraries, there are some books that are categorized as Young Adult (YA). The YA categorization includes books for the age ranges of 12-18.
If you DO NOT WANT your child to check out books with a YA rating, please indicate that below.
Sincerely,
Celena Arrington
Director of Instructional Technology, Online Learning, & School Library Media
** Students, or their parents/guardians, who do not return this form will be allowed to check out materials in the YA reading/content level category.**
