Course Description

Algebra will provide students with opportunities to expand their knowledge of algebra concepts and how they can be connected to the real world. This course will have an EOC at the end of the school year. We will follow the Georgia Frameworks and be using Carnegie Learning.

Materials Needed:

• Algebra Math Book

• ChromeBook

• Notebook Paper

• Pencils/ Pens

• Calculators are recommended for this course, but are not required. CHS will supply a calculator to be used in class, which has a replacement cost if lost. Calculators cannot be checked out/ taken from the classroom.

Units of Study and Grading Policy

Module 1: Searching for Patterns

Module 2: Exploring Constant Change

Module 3: Maximizing and Minimizing

Module 4: Investigating Growth and Decay

Module 5: Applying Functions to Data and Distance

The grade is a cumulative average at all times. The grade given on grade reports is the current grade at that time. Parents are encouraged to track student’s progress by using Powerschool. A student’s grade is calculated as follows:

55% --Tests & Projects

25% --Homework & classwork assignments

20%--Final Exam

You are still responsible for completing your class work.

You must remember to check Google Classroom for any assignments, announcements, or instructional videos that have been posted.

You will also be responsible for checking your own email to see any updates that may be emailed out. This is also a great way to reach out to me and ask for your work.
