This 2025-26 school year begins my 31st year teaching. My B.S. in Special Education was earned from The University of West Georgia, followed by a Master's in Education from Jacksonville State University. I completed my Education Specialist Degree through Lincoln Memorial University. My husband, Mark Upton, teaches at Georgia Northwestern Technical College. We have a daughter named Bailey (MHS '17), (Samford '21), (Samford '23) who works as a Speech pathologist at a private clinic in Birmingham Al., and a daughter named Libby (MHS '19), (UGA '23), (UGA '25) who just started her first year as a teacher at Model High School. When not in the classroom, I can be found spending time with my family and Golden Doodle named Bear.
I'm excited to start a new year at Model Middle School, where I've been for 24 years. Throughout my career, I've had the pleasure of teaching a variety of subjects, including math, science, and now English Language Arts (ELA).
Outside of school, my world revolves around my family. My husband, Keith, and I have two daughters, Brittany and Amber, and a son-in-law, Tripp. All 3 are graduates from Model High School. They've given us three wonderful grandchildren: Mary James, Dawson, and Townes. Our family also includes our dog, Scout. In my free time, you'll find me enjoying every moment I can with them.
